Okay, I have to find out just how far [info]tornadogrrrl and friends are from the rest of the universe I know. The subject: Mutton chops. As in the style of facial hair, not the meat dish.

Things I learned while making this poll: It's hard to find photos searching for "mutton chops", you really have to search for "sideburns" and then decide which might apply. Also, Kevin O'Mara has the best CC-licensed sideburns on Flickr.

Keeping facial hair well-kept-looking (combed & trim & clean) is much more important than any styling choice.

which I think counts against the "it would be easier to maintain than less facial hair because there's less surface area to shave" argument.

Yeah, having a beard is not much less work than having a clean face. Trimming it is slightly more involved, but I only have to do it once every other day or once every 3 days.

It's probably a good thing I can't grow facial hair. I would do all kinds of crazy things with it, but eventually revert to scruffy-looking hippie, and nobody wants that.

Me too. Although I have a certain wistfulness for a beard long enough to braid. I think I somehow believe that a braided beard wouldn't get into everything.

technically speaking, I don't think it's a radio button, because you can mark as many of them as you like.

and what Qwantz says is not "everyone thinks it's attractive" but "everyone says it is" (emphasis added), which is not the same thing at all.
